Anyone know which version of either PICC 9.51 std, 9.61 or 9.62 pro works properly ?
Currently I cannot view one of the structures in the watch pane (MPLAB) as it is displayed as "Invalid Array". Compiled with 9.61
If I try 9.51 compiler I get the same issue but an added bunch of errors that point to the PIC18F4620.h file when I double click to view the error. Every now and then I get an HLINK.EXE error that wants to stop the program.
Tech support seems to be relegated to more exeperienced persons who have trouble finding the issues.
Until the recent "advances" in compilers I seemed to be able to happily program and compiile and things went reasonably smoothly and when I did need help their guys were on the ball and could quickly give responses.
Can someone point me to a compiler version and appropriate pacth or other to get this working ?

Even if I agree, that at the moment there are some problems with the actual compiler versions (I am atlking about PIC-18 PRO).
The "Invalid Array" error seams to be an MPLAB issue. Ihad the same problem here, but if I use the same COFF together with PIC-MC (an emulator from Phyton) the arrays are shown correct.

I've felt some pain regarding those exact versions of the compilers that you mention.
I've abandoned PICC18 PRO 9.61 - my installation currently doesn't work at all - so I'm using both STD 9.51 and PRO 9.62.
As often as possible I switch between the two compilers making sure my code compiles and runs as expected using both compilers. This sounds like pain but I like to think that as the PICC18 PRO compiler matures my code will be ready for it... and meanwhile I'm still compatible with the STD version. Gives me a warm confident feeling anyway (grin).
I have (to the best of my knowledge) all available patches installed.
For use via MPLAB which Universal Toolsuite are you using? I'm using v1.16.
My PICC18 PRO version is 9.62 candidate build 1725.
I do wonder if some of my pain was from when I was working on a project that included Salvo. I did wonder if my old Salvo version did not work well with PICC18 PRO 9.61 and 9.62. Are you using Salvo?

My '1725 indicates that the license has expired. Are you saying that you have a 9.62 RC that is functional as of this moment?

Dan,
My '1725 expires every 10 or 14 days (can't remember which) and so I just re-install it using the same .exe that I originally downloaded from HiTech's ftp site. I also re-activate on each re-install.
The first time it expired I tried to find it on Hi-Tech's Web and FTP sites again and couldn't - hence the re-install from my originally downloaded .exe.
So yes, my 9.62 RC is functional and life is good.
(Edited this, my own reply, to clarify).

I have stopped using the Pro compiler in the meantime. I purchased the upgrade to the Pro version around a year ago but it has never worked correctly.
In the meantime I have 9.51 reasonably stable at present and as it is on a Vista machine I dare not sneeze or I'l sure to unsettle something (VISTA is another story again - the old blue screen of death has become the transparent white screen of death and a rotating circle that drives you nuts, then you reboot and find your CD rom is no longer present, next you find there's an obscure hifilter/lofilter setting in regsitry you remove and your CD rom comes back grrr).
My hope is that eventually the Pro compiler will be stable at some version and that whatever version that may be, those of us who purchased Pro 9.61 that has never run correctly will automatically get the working version.

The short answer is - most certainly yes.
All of us at HI-TECH appreciate your patience and the patience of all our PICC-18 PRO customers. As you may be aware, we have v9.62 in testing now. I expect your free time is limited and you may not be able to participate in the test program. However if you do have a moment or two I'd love to give you access to our testing forum where you can download the latest build of v9.62 (Vista compatible). Your feedback will be most welcome, and you will also have the opportunity to obtain a FREE HI-TECH product of your choice.
Please let me know if you would like to access the testing forum by emailing me directly at executive@htsoft.com.
Most sincerely,
Peter Riachi Chief Operating Officer, HI-TECH Software
